Berry

Today is a very sad day. Berry was brought to The Animal Clinic to be sterilized.

Berry, the Golden Retriever, was a gorgeous lady. She had this elegance in her that made her different from other dogs, especially greedy Almond. Berry acts like a cat sometimes, classy and proud. Often, she takes things at her own stride, sometimes ignoring us.

We bought Berry with the intention of breeding her with Almond. However, as Almond was not well physically, we had to sterilize him. I wanted to mate Berry with another Golden Retriever as I felt that her genes was pretty good. However, my dad thought otherwise. He wanted her to be sterilized. He felt that there was not enough space for more dogs and also there would be too many dogs to handle. Also, if Berry was not sterilized and not mated, she would get cancer easily at the later stage of her life.

I felt angry with myself for not being able to purchase a plot of land for them to run around freely and breed naturally.

Berry is different. And now that difference will end with her when she grows old and dies.
